Series II Illustration:
FERRARI 158

John Surtees driving the N.A.R.T Ferrari 158 at the 1964 Mexican Grand Prix – the final race of the season. Graham Hill was leading the championship, with Surtees in second place. Jim Clark was third in the championship, and leading the race. With only a couple laps remaining, the engine in Clark’s Lotus seized and he was out of the race. If Surtees won the race, or come in second, he would win the 1964 Formula 1 drivers championship. With Dan Gurney now in the lead, and Surtees in third, his Ferrari teammate Lorenzo Bandini was signaled by the team to let Surtees pass. He finished the race in second place, and won the 1964 drivers’ championship.
